Burn Care

You hope you never need its services. But if you or a loved one suffers a burn, it’s important to know a regional burn center is available close to home.

Our Regional Burn Center is one of the most experienced in the United States. We care for three times the patients as the average burn center, meaning we have the experience and resources to give you every advantage in recovery. In January 2008, we moved and expanded our Burn Center to the Kasych Family Pavilion at Lehigh Valley Hospital—Cedar Crest, Allentown, Pa., to care for even more patients who need us.

Our Regional Burn Center is the only one in the area with a full-time medical staff that is completely devoted to burn care and also is accredited in pediatric, burn and trauma care. We also have a complete scar management program that offers the latest techniques to limit cosmetic and functional disabilities, and an image enhancement service that offers tattooing and instruction on makeup techniques for burned skin.

We are the largest and busiest burn center in Pennsylvania and one of 44 burn centers out of 140 nationwide verified by the American Burn Association (ABA) and American College of Surgeons. To receive this designation, a burn center must meet rigorous organizational structure, personnel qualifications, facilities, resources and medical services as outlined by the ABA.

Your Comfort and Safe Care Are Most Important

Our burn center rooms are private and designed according to the highest standards for your comfort and safe, efficient care. Our new Regional Burn Center features 18 large rooms and is equipped with:

  • Full-size in-room bath with seated shower
  • Patient lift system to lessen the risk for injury to both patient and caregiver
  • Controlled air flow, humidity and heat for greater patient comfort
  • State-of-the-art infection control including HEPA filter system, blinds embedded in the window panes (to eliminate the need for curtains that could hold bacteria), and antifungal paints and wallpaper glues
